A response to the challenges of sustainable construction

The transition to a low-carbon concrete design mix is emerging as one of the main levers for meeting the challenges of sustainable construction. To facilitate this change, CHRYSO is innovating with EnviroMix®, a global offering of admixtures and services to optimize the concrete formulation and implementation strategy.

EnviroMix ®  is a unique global offer combining admixtures entirely dedicated to low-carbon concrete and services allowing the calculation and reduction of the CO 2 impact . This solution is aimed at both ready-mixed concrete (BPE) and prefabrication.

With EnviroMix ® , above 20% Supplementary Cementitious Materials (SCM) like Fly Ash, Slag, Silica Fume, etc. can be added in concrete and still achieve the design strength targets at in less than 24-Hours.

All stakeholders are mobilizing to reduce the carbon footprint of construction.

To achieve the objective of carbon neutrality by 2050, France has turned to the building sector, which emits 25% of CO2 emissions .

The entire construction sector is being structured for the development of low-carbon solutions, with the definition of the National Low Carbon Strategy (SNBC).

The new environmental regulation, RE2020 (in force on January 1, 2022) integrates the carbon dimension of each construction via an analysis of its life cycle. CHRYSO technical experts support you in this analysis and facilitate the development of innovative materials, thanks to the optimization of concrete formulations.

green building sustainable construction

-35% CO2 by 2030: the first commitment from construction players in the European Union

Driven by the environmental and economic challenges of sustainable construction, players in the sector are committed to reducing the carbon footprint of construction by 35% by 2030 for neutrality in 2050

An objective that accelerates the use of ecological, recyclable or biosourced materials.

However, it is possible to go even further to reduce the carbon impact by acting directly on the formulation of the concrete.

The development of sustainable construction, at the heart of Chryso’s DNA

CHRYSO: between field expertise and R&D approach

Over the last 15 years, CHRYSO has engaged in a very strong R&D dynamic in the admixture of low-carbon impact concrete. This dynamism has made it possible to access new performance levers, and to create new low-carbon concrete solutions. CHRYSO has developed a range of admixtures which is based on the use of concrete in additions, with for example:

  • The use of existing low-carbon cements
  • Optimal use of concrete with additions (fly ash, slag)
  • The use of new binders (Solidia – Geopolymers)

A master’s degree in the development of low-carbon cement

CHRYSO also benefits from specific know-how adapted to the chemistry of new low-carbon cements through its cement additives activity.

The new cements with additions (CEM II to CEM VI and LC3) or the binders of tomorrow made up of new geopolymers, which are arriving on the market, will require new adjuvants supported by cutting-edge technologies.

ENVIROMIX®, range for ready-mixed concrete and precast applications

By acting on the CO 2 impact , new parameters must be integrated for the development of the design mix, in addition to the traditional properties of this material at the heart of our construction methods (resistance and durability classes, maintenance of workability, setting time…).

To meet your target performance level, CHRYSO has developed the EnviroMix® range which provides a response for each type of application:

Services offered

Enviromix® Solutions for Ready-Mixed Concrete

Optimize maintaining workability, effective dispersion of binders and control of shrinkage.

Types of application: deep foundations, walls, pillars, columns, civil engineering.

Enviromix® Solutions for Precast Concrete

Optimization of the placement of concrete and the increase in strength with the integration of the curing process.

Applications:

  • Structural and non-structural concrete elements
  • Reinforced and prestressed concrete
  • Major projects dedicated to prefab: voussoirs, bridge elements
Enviromix®Impact

Tool for calculating the environmental impact of a concrete design mix. It allows you to define an optimized formulation strategy.

Enviromix®Impact is a pre-diagnosis calculation tool, it allows you to:

  • Calculate the environmental impact of a concrete design mix, it helps you define a formulation strategy adapted to your carbon reduction objective.
  • Compare two concrete formulas, one of which is low carbon oriented
  • Integrate the energy cost of steaming into the calculation and even the impact of transporting raw materials.
Chryso®Maturix

Help you monitor the increase in strength of concrete at an early age in BPE and Prefabrication

CHRYSO ® Maturix is a digital tool for monitoring concrete temperature in real time.

It allows you to effectively monitor and predict the increase in compressive strength at all ages in precast plants as well as on the construction site.
The data collected makes it possible to optimize production and the concrete mix-design.

CHRYSO, solutions, services and support for the development of your concrete formulations on site

CHRYSO technical experts support you in developing your concrete design mix and on your sites, to develop a concrete design mix perfectly suited to your performance objectives.
