This is the choice in accelerated or high early strength requirements like manufacturing of pre-cast, piles, pre-stressed and post-stressed concrete.
Using PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 will not accelerate too quickly and is workable for about 2-3 hours based on our experiments when an initial slump or 8-8.5” is used. (Again, it is understood that since there are a lot of factors that will affect slump loss including cement brand, aggregate size and quality, sand quality, addition of fly ash, temperature and humidity, etc. The client is advised to do his/her experi-ments before massive concreting is done.)
PRIMEPLAST or X1 is primarily used as a superplasticizer for high strength con-crete. 8,000 psi and up. It holds it slump well and does not have the disproportion-ate price of the third generation Carboxyl based admixture.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1, an admixture for concrete mixes, is used for superplasticizing and improving properties of concrete such as: slump, workability, placeability, pumpability, flowability, strength, durability, permeability, bond to reinforcing steel, etc. While some terms are at times interchangeable, it is because one property usually leads to the next as will be illustrated later.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 reduces the water demand of concrete mixes about 30-40% is attained depending again on mixture conditions and admixture dosage. We recom-mend 1-1.5% OWC as a dosage reference. The standard is 1% OWC.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 increases the slump of concrete. If a concrete mix has a slump of 2 inches, adding PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 to this mix will improve the slump to 4 to 6 or 8 inches depending on the amount added. Because PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 can impart high slumps, concrete will flow like liquid. At this liquid state, concrete becomes easier to handle. Some of the advantages are:

Such positive properties equate to savings for the user of PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 . Fluid pumpability translates to less power consumption. Pumping concrete to high rise levels will be like pumping grease. And because liquid seeks its own level, fluid concrete fills forms more compactly and therefore prevents the formation of honeycombs. Thus, the time in placing, consolidating and finishing becomes much less, and therefore, labor is easier and cheaper.
Provided concrete mixtures are properly proportioned, concrete made to flow with PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 becomes extremely workable without bleeding and segregation.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 contains no calcium chloride and therefore, has no deleterious effect on steel. It is purely organic in nature with anionic sites in its molecule.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 is a necessary ingredient when designing high strength and high performance concrete.
PRIMEPLAST FLOWING CONCRETE finds practical use where reinforcement is closely spaced. Such locations make consolidation difficult unless concrete is made to flow with PRIMEPLAST.
PRIMEPLAST FLOWING CONCRETE is desirable in massive placements. The cement content can be lowered and in turn, heat development will be minimized. The low W/C ratio will reduce shrinkage and consequently reduce cracking, and improve both tightness and permeability.
For longer slump retention, we suggest to control the slump at 8.5 to 9 inches at the batching plant.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 is used for making piles, pre-cast and post-tensioned concrete. A high early strength type is employed in order to release forms and molds faster.
Incompatibility is indicated when a concrete mix becomes agglomerated as the admixture is added. Lumps of concrete result instead of a uniformly distributed fluid mass.
PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 has been tested with all brands of cement in the Philippines and it has not encountered any incompatibility. Incompatibility usually occurs when some calcium compounds show limited solubility in water. PRIMEPLAST is formulated that it helps chelate certain positive ions present in concrete mixtures holding such ions into a complex, and suspended to cause no harm.
Generally, use (1% on weight of cement) of PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 per bag of cement. Additional dosages should be used when higher strength is needed to minimize water content. So far, we have tested PRIMEPLAST AN or X1 up to 1.5% with all brands of Cement and have not found any appalling effects.
