PRIME LEVELING MORTAR

PRIME LEVELING MORTAR is a non-flowing mortar, incorporating hydraulic cement, fillers and carefully selected additives that provide its unique combination of properties. The compound is ready-to-use after mixing with water.

PRIME LEVELING MORTAR adheres tightly with the substrate over the area where it is poured to level all cavities and deformities resulting into a flatter, smooth and level surface.

USES:

PRIME LEVELING MORTAR gives a new strong-wearing surface that can be used for light, medium, and heavy traffic. It can also serve as an underlayment, ready to receive tiles made of PVC, rubber, ceramic, marble, stones, etc. It is great for re-surfacing powdering concrete and pavements with scaling problems and/or potholes.

PRIME LEVELING MORTAR finds usefulness especially for patching floors and being flexible, it follows the contour of the surface where it is laid. Correcting deformities with PRIME LEVELING MORTAR will result into a level, flat and uniform appearance of the new surface.

APPLICATION:

Surface Preparation

The concrete surface where PRIME LEVELING MORTAR is to be applied should be clean and free from loose aggregates, laitance, dust, grease, oil and paint. The presence of such contaminants can jeopardize adhesion.

1. Clean the surface with the best available method.

2. Wet the surface with water completely, but remove any excess. It is now ready to receive the PRIME LEVELING MORTAR

Mixing PRIME LEVELING MORTAR

Mix only the approximate amount sufficient to cover the surface area to be corrected. In a bucket, mix just enough water to PRIME LEVELING MORTAR to bring it to the right consistency. This is done by adding a little amount of water at a time, mixing well with a hand paddle or an electric mixer until there are no more lumps.

The amount of water for a 25 kg bag of PRIME LEVELING MORTAR is approximately 5-6 liters without segregation. When mixing less than 25 kgs at a time, estimate the approximate amount. Always use the less amount of water that is acceptable in your appli-cation so that high strength can be attained quickly.

Directions

Pour out the mixed PRIME LEVELING MORTAR unto the surface. Trowel to a smooth finish.

Allow the PRIME LEVELING MORTAR to set undisturbed. Usually, if the thickness applied is only 10 mm or less, the substrate may receive any further surface treatment after 24 hours of curing. Curing time will be at least 14 days but light and medium traffic can pass through after 7 days.

Since PRIME LEVELING MORTAR is self-curing, there is no need to water the surface unless the area is very windy or very hot, in which case improper curing might occur. Improper curing is indicated if the surface appears dried up all of a sudden. If this happens, sprinkle water on the surface but do not flood. Do not use a curing compound that is wax-based. Philprime has a resin-based curing compound, PRIMECURE R, which is suitable because it can receive tile adhesion without harming the leveling mortar.

STORAGE:

Store in a cool dry place. Keep the plastic bag unpunctured to prolong the storage life to one year or more. Punctured bags have to be used immediately before the product hardens due to the presence of moisture in the air that reacts with the hydraulic cement of the product. Discard unused product if container is not sealed properly.

Market Specification
Benefits

The difference between PRIME LEVELING MORTAR and ordinary concrete used as topping are as follows:

1. Ordinary concrete does not adhere to the surface of the old concrete, whereas PRIME LEVELING MORTAR bonds tenaciously

2. Ordinary concrete needs to have at least 2” thickness, PRIME LEVELING MORTAR may be applied thinly

3. Ordinary concrete is not as strong as PRIME LEVELING MORTAR
